Our first summer trip....Fort Bragg, CA

Ellie loved running from the waves. Mostly she won, sometimes not! Cameron wouldn't go near them!

Touching Daddy's abalone....EEWWW!

The ride home...wish they slept so easily and so deep every night!

While treasure hunting on the beach, Ellie found this dead crab, whole. Quite a find!

Well, we were a little nervous about how this trip would go for Cameron after last year's protest and nursing strike! Fort Bragg is a little farther from home! We did some camp outs in the back yard and he did ok, so we just prayed hard and packed up and went for it. And he was a trooper. He doesn't like to sleep with blankets so the first night was a little hard as he'd fight to get them off, get cold, then finally allowed them. Ellie and Cam both loved the ocean. Ellie loved to play chase with the waves, and Cam watched them from a distance. Glass beach was a hit and Ellie brought back half the beach with her. John tried a new hobby....abalone diving. As is his usual result with all things athletic and sporty, he was successful right off the bat (thank goodness! I get to eat well with his hunting and fishing ventures!). He went out two days and got the limit each day. What a feast that was! I could eat it everyday and not tire of it! I think it will be an annual trip for us. Camping is such a great way to really enjoy family and God for us. The ocean is such a testament for us that life is not random.....and God is alive and well =) And for those family who were with us on the colder trip a few years before....the weather was the best we've ever seen there. We were actually hot on the beach! Guess timing is everything!
